About Us and the Academy

My name is Dimitar Yazadzhiev and I am the Owner and Director of Tennis at the DIMITAR Tennis Academy in Santa Barbara, California.

The academy offers top quality tennis instruction for the competitive player who is determined and dedicated to excel to the next level. I have over 25 years of domestic and international coaching experience at some of the world's most recognized tennis facilities.

Congratulations to our top player Kento Perera for winning the 113th edition of the prestigious tournament in Ojai, CA for boys 14 and under.

I have coached three Top 50 ATP/WTA ranked tennis players and worked with many of the top ranked national and international junior players. Among them:
Grigor Dimitrov - #28 ATP (and rising), #1 ITF B18s, 2006 Orange Bowl Boys 16s singles champion, 2008 Jr. Wimbledon champion, and 2008 Jr. US Open singles champion.
Anna Tatishvili – Winner of 11 singles titles and 7 doubles titles on the ITF Tour and former #50 WTA
Sesil Karatancheva - Former #35 WTA and French Open Quarter Finalist.
Ksenia Milevskaya - Top 200 WTA and 2007 #2 ITF.
Aleksandrina Naydenova - Top 250 WTA and Top 200 doubles.
Kento Perera - #1 SoCal B14s in 2013, Top 20 US B14.

Previous to establishing the DIMITAR Tennis Academy, I was the Head Coach & Director of Summer Camp Programming at Weil Tennis Academy in Ojai, CA for 10 years. I was also the tennis coach at the Maleeva Tennis Academy located in Sofia, Bulgaria. Tournament Director for the Bulgarian Tennis Federation and Management Director for the Academic Tennis Club in Sofia, Bulgaria.

In 2013, I was awarded the HEAD/Penn Racquet Sports Advisory Professional of the Year.

I have been a USPTR Professional since 1993 and was ranked among the Top 4 Juniors in Bulgaria.

I graduated from the prestigious Bulgarian National Sports Academy with a master's degree in Physical Education and Sports Management.

We aim to develop and enhance all aspects of successful tennis players, including technique, footwork, fitness, peak performance, nutrition, and strategy. Each camp or clinic includes specially designed fitness sessions with Certified Athletic Trainers / Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialists.

Examples of determination and being able to develop their potential are our long-term students Petar Jivkov, Mattea Kilstofte and Kento Perera.

Peter Jivkov is a Junior at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington and was ranked Top#20 Boys 16 in SoCal. He was the Central Coast Grand Prix (SCTA Level 3) 2011 B16 Singles Champion, Knowlwood (USTA Level 5 National) 2011 B16 Doubles Champion, 2012 Channel League Singles Runnerup, MVP and #1 Player & Captain of San Marcos High School Varsity Tennis Team.

Kento Perera finished 2013 as No.1 in SoCal B14s division. He is now Nationally Ranked Top 20. He won the Channel League Singles Championship as a San Marcos High School freshman in 2014. Kento is the first freshman to win CIF since 1980. Kento also won the Doubles Draw and the Consolation Tournament of the USTA National Open Tournament presented by City of Irvine for Boys '14. In November 2013, Kento made it to the semifinals in singles and won the doubles draw of the USTA Regional Tournament Segment- (Las Vegas) Mike Agassi NO QUIT Championships for Boys'16.

Dimitar Tennis Academy is the U.S. training base for several rising ATP, ITF, and NCAA Division I Players including:

Sagar Ahuja, Neishit Vakil and Paarth Dodhiawala (India), Artiom Dimitriev and Alisa Axyanova(Russia), Martin Dimitrov (Bulgaria) and Victor Stoyanov (Florida).

Artiom Dimitriev has been in the top 20 in Serbia national rank in 16s and 18s division.

Sagar Ahuja and Neishit Vakil are rising ATP & ITF players.

Paarth Dodhiawala is a Junior at NCAA Division I Saint Louis University. He was named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor roll and earned ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition during the 2014-2015 season.

Victor Stoyanov finished 3rd for B12s in Florida and is ranked Top 20 for B14s.

Martin Dimitrov is the Bulgarian National Champion for B'18.
